The 2021 Timorasso Derthona Marzemino is one of the most impressive white wines from Piedmont that I’ve tasted, and I can’t help comparing it to a great Riesling, as it has so much focus. A pale straw/silver color, it’s fresh and savory, with notes of lime leaf, fresh chive, melon rind, and citrus blossom. Medium-bodied, zesty, and focused, with outstanding energy and drive, it’s refreshing and long on the palate, with vibrant acidity, and it will have some real aging potential. Drink this over the next 10 or more years.

The 2021 Timorasso Derthona Montemarzino is ethereal and light on its feet. More importantly, Luca Roagna coaxes a level of textural finesse that is not common with Timorasso, all while retaining the grape's phenolic feel. Mint, dried lemon peel, almond, sage, lime and yellow flavors all develop in this savory, vibrant dry white.

Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
