Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2045, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, May 2021
From 40-year-old vines on marl and coralline limestone soils, the 2018 Ried Zieregg Morillon opens deep, pure and mineral yet also displays sweet oaky notes that are reminiscent of Cognac barrels. Crystalline, fresh and persistently salty on the palate, this is a pure, tight and finessed yet impressively intense Zieregg that will need some years to integrate the oaky notes even better. The wine has substance, reduced power and tension and excellent aging potential. Tasted in October 2020.
