Tasting notes
The 1990 Campaccio Reserva is a must purchase for enthusiasts of great Tuscan proprietary red wines. It possesses a stunning nose of lead pencil aromas (a Mouton-Rothschild smell-alike), cassis, tobacco, vanillin, and cedar. The wine's opaque purple color suggests (and the flavors confirm it) great concentration. There are chocolatey, cassis flavors that ooze from the wine's innards. Full, rich, and spectacularly well-balanced with adequate acidity and moderate tannin in the blockbuster finish, this is a monumental example of a Tuscan Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Drink it over the next 15-20 years. The Terrabianca estate has benefited from significant financial investments, and the results are superb wines, which, in my opinion, are underpriced given the exceptional qualitative level.
