Score 88/100 · Drink 2023-2036, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2019

The 2016 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Les Bretterins unfurls in the glass with notes of raspberries, raw cocoa, cedar wood and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, firm and chalky, with tangy acids and a rather austere profile that appears to be marked by the year's frosts. With time, this may drink very well indeed, but it won't offer immediate gratification.
