Tasting notes
Pear-scented, the 2000 Riesling Cuvee Ste.-Catherine exhibits loads of depth in its linden and chamomile-flavored character. Light to medium-bodied, it is a concentrated, tightly-wound, bone-dry, and complex wine. It has the capacity to become even better with cellaring. Drink it between 2005 and 2015. According to Laurence Faller, this highly regarded estate's winemaker, "unquestionably 2000 must be considered one of the finest vintages of the last decade. It reminds me of 1998 but with more botrytis, yet not too much." Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802

Ripe, nuanced nose combines peach, lime, ginger and minerals. Brisk, concentrated and penetrating, with a vibrant lime flavor and just a hint of sweetness (5 g/l). Dense and suave. Finishes quite long, with subtle, pure citrus skin and mineral notes.
