Tasting notes
The 2003 Pago Negrolada comes from a single, high elevation Tempranillo vineyard and is typically the winery’s benchmark effort. The wine was barrel fermented and displays a saturated purple color, splendid blackberry, chocolate and earthy aromas. It is packed with ripe, impeccable pure fruit, and has impressive balance. It should come into its own with 4-6 years of cellaring and drink well for a decade thereafter. Importer: Kobrand Corporation, New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

Saturated purple. Intense, pungent aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant jam, with strong oak spice and smoked meat elements. Sweet, broad and lush, the dark fruit flavors showing impressive power, richness and depth and a liqueur-like quality. Very young, finishing on a sweet, sappy note of cassis, with big but harmonious tannins.
