Score 94/100 · Drink 2017-2027, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The 2013 Tempranillo Grano a Grano is produced with hand-destemmed Tempranillo grapes from three vineyards in the villages of San Vicente and Labastida. The vines are over 50 years old and in a complex vintage like 2013, they had to do a very severe sorting of the bunches; from these vineyards they could save a little more. The grapes fermented in small stainless steel vats and the wine was transferred to new French barriques for malolactic and 18 months of ageing. As I saw in the Selección Personal, there is much better integration of the oak compared with previous vintages. It has a serious profile, it's a little closed even, and feels a little reticent. The palate shows very fine, abundant tannins, focused flavors and a clean, long and mineral finish. 2013 seems like a very good vintage for this wine, too. 1,719 bottles produced.
