Tasting notes
The 2013 El Pecado, a Mencía field blend from old vines in Ribeira Sacra (but sold without appellation), has a more Northern Rhône profile, with notes reminiscent of violets, smoked bacon and tar. The palate is juicy, round and very intense. It has great acidity and very fine tannins. This vintage combines elegance and power. This is a wine produced with 40% full clusters. 1,500 bottles produced.

Brilliant ruby. High-pitched red and dark berry aromas are complicated by suggestions of smoky Indian spices, cured tobacco and violet. Palate-staining blackberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors stretch out with air, becoming deeper and broader while picking up hints of spicecake and licorice. Clings with excellent persistence on the mineral, floral finish, with silky tannins adding grip. This wine was fermented in a 1,500-liter French oak foudre , followed by a post-fermentation maceration for 60 days before being racked into used French oak barriques for a year of aging.
