El Pecado was the first wine Pérez produced from Ribeira Sacra and it made a lot of noise. In the fresh and balanced 2012 vintage it produced an awesome, balanced red, with earthy undertones under a core of blueberries, dry flowers and aromatic herbs, poised and harmonious, sourced from the Capeliños vineyards from Guímaro planted with very old vines mixed in the vineyards with a dominance of Mencía but with a large number of other Atlantic varieties. The palate is seamless and layered, with very fine tannins, great acidity and a slight bitterness towards the finish, the only hint at it's élevage in barrique. It's sold without the appellation's seal, but it's as Ribeira Sacra as it gets. Bravo!

(85% mencia, 10% caino and 5% bastardo; aged for a year in small French oak barrels): Inky ruby. Seductively perfumed nose displays sexy blackberry, blueberry and candied licorice aromas, with a hint of gaminess in the background. Rich and fleshy on the palate, showing deeply concentrated dark berry and floral pastille flavors, a velvety texture and a kick of peppery spices. Smoothly combines richness and vivacity, finishing with excellent clarity and cling and sneaky tannins. These vines were reportedly planted in 1910.
