Darker red and black cherries, iron, ozone, smoked meats, crushed stone, and dark chocolate all emerge from the 2022 Côte Rôtie Lieu-Dit Bonnivières, another brilliant 2022 from Yves. I love the balance and purity here. It has a concentrated mid-palate, ripe, polished tannins, and serious depth. The tannin quality is absolutely terrific. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 15+. Drink 2030-2045.

Crafted entirely from Syrah planted in the lieu-dit Bonnivieres in the commune of Ampuis, the 2022 Côte Rôtie Lieu Dit Bonnivieres displays a more somber, darker profile than Madinière. Offering aromas of earth, spices, cedar and oak, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and structured, with an assertive tannic frame and broad shoulders that segue into a long, mineral finish with hints of lead pencil. While it exhibits more power than its counterpart, the oak presence is notable, though the wine remains well crafted. Keep it over the next decade.
Pencil shaving, cured meat, black cherry, cedar and a touch of licorice introduce the 2022 Côte-Rôtie Lieu-Dit Bonnivières. Medium- to full-bodied, round and ambitious, the 2022 has developed nicely since I tasted it from barrel last year, bundling remarkable energy and freshness, much more so than the La Madinière and Bassenon from the same vintage. This closes with a refreshing, energetic finale.
