Very pale yellow with green highlights. Lime and nut oil on the nose. Rich and attractive but a bit simple, with ripe peach and apricot flavors perked up by some lemon and lime. Less floral than the 2010 version and essentially in a soft, creamy style. Tasty already but I wanted more nuance and grip. There's something oddly neutral about this wine.

The estate's 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts is the richest and deepest of these Pulignys. Ripe peaches and apricots flow effortlessly from this juicy, round Puligny. The flavors build nicely towards a textured, engaging finish layered with clean mineral notes.

The estate’s 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts is the richest and deepest of these Pulignys. Ripe peaches and apricots flow effortlessly from this juicy, round Puligny. The flavors build nicely towards a textured, engaging finish layered with clean mineral notes. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. This is an excellent set of wines from Jean-Marc Boillot. The wines were aged in 25% new barrels, with batonnage once a week. The malos were finished by February and the wines were bottled in September 2010. Readers will note that most of the estate’s whites are Puligny-Montrachet premier crus. In 2009, not all of these wines are markedly different from each other, which is not completely surprising in a warm year. At the same time, another feature of these 2009s is that many of the wines are unusually bright for the year. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802

Smooth, easy, perfumed with a whiff of smoke. Just fades slightly on the finish. (JR)
