There's a lot of freshness and life in the 2014 Barolo Bussia, with nice balance and crispness. The mouthfeel is contouring and firm, with energy and verve. The effect is streamlined and lean, but what the wine lacks in power, it makes up for in length.

The 2014 Barolo Bussia offers modest depth and complexity in the light-bodied style that is typical of many wines in this vintage. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.

Monforte d’Alba. Tasted blind. Just mid ruby with broad orange rim. Minerally nose with sweet/savoury hints. Lifted sour cherry and sweet raspberry. Very fragrant, juicy, lithe and fine grainy tannins. (WS)

The 2014 Barolo Bussia offers lovely texture and midpalate creaminess within the standard of the vintage. Soft and open-knit, the 2014 will drink well right out of the gate. Lifted aromatics and pliant fruit give a sense of immediacy that is undeniably appealing. My only quibble is that the wine loses some persistence on the finish. It would also be nice to see the vineyard-designate Barolo be meaningfully better than the straight Barolo. All that said, this is a strong showing from Prunotto in a tough vintage. Moreover, all signs suggest Prunotto is moving in the right direction.
