I love the wines from this estate, which always shine for their incredible perfume and complexity. Exotic red and black fruits, lavender, basil, peppery garrigue, and sandalwood notes define the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape, which is based on 58% Grenache, 24% Syrah, and 18% Mourvèdre that was brought up mostly in larger foudre but with a small part in used barrels. With medium to full-bodied richness, a silky, elegant mouthfeel, present tannins, and outstanding length, this beauty is well worth your time and money. Drink bottles over the coming 10-12 years.
The 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape from Domaine des Senechaux offers up aromas of fresh thyme, garrigue, spices and pepper. It has a medium to full-bodied, round and layered palate framed by a fleshy core of fruit and velvety tannins, followed by a concentrated, well-balanced mid-palate that segues into a fresh, long and mineral finish. This blend of 58% Grenache Noir, 24% Syrah and 18% Mourvèdre was partially destemmed and matured for nine months in foudres (80%) and 12 months in used barrels (20%). It's a commendable effort and marks the domaine as one to watch.
Wild strawberry, garrigue , cured meat and licorice present the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a full-bodied and spicy rendition of this reliable red Châteauneuf. Balanced by fresh acidity, the savory 2022 is totally inviting and easygoing, yet it also packs sufficient structure for extended bottle-aging.
