Tasting notes
Deep red. Highly aromatic nose offers redcurrant, tobacco, minerals and sweet oak. At once silky and vibrant but with its fruity flavors currently under wraps. Deep, oaky wine, finishing with broad, slightly drying tannins and a note of milk chocolate. I found this a bit inscrutable from barrel a year ago as well. Needs four or five years of cellaring.

Bright red-ruby. Musky aromas of red cherry, menthol, rose petal and Indian spices. Ripe but bright, with firm acids buffering the wine's fat. As silky as this is today, it conveys less early sweetness than most of these 2007s. Finishes with building tannins and a flavor of licorice. This needs more elevage and will probably require six or seven years of bottle aging too.
Racy and smooth and fills all the gaps on the palate. Real energy and richness too. (JR)
