The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is a deep ruby color and was raised in large Slavonian oak barrels. Ripe and giving on the nose, it reveals notes of cherry fruit, mocha, and leather. It’s gamey and iron-rich on the palate, with a fine, giving, rounded texture and a clean finish. It’s a pleasing wine with an open window for drinking over the next 8-10 years. 53,000 bottles produced. La Poderina is located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate.

The well-made La Poderina 2019 Brunello di Montalcino offers a wide-reaching bouquet with a little bit of everything you might expect of this celebrated Sangiovese-based appellation. There are elements of ripe fruit, blackberry, potting soil, graham cracker and sweet spice. All these various pieces get wrapped up in a nicely intense bouquet. This wine offers solid texture over a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel. This is a 68,000-bottle production.

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a dark blend of medicinal blackberries, cloves and violet candies. This is juicy in character, with a liquid floral sensation and spicy red berry fruits that slowly saturate. It finishes with medium length and gently tannic while leaving a bitter licorice tinge lingering.

Maturing mid ruby with narrow orange rim. Rich, chalky amarena nose with touches of dried fruit. Supple, aromatic and with grainy tannins. Solid, if not the most complex of wines. (WS)
