Score 89/100 · Drink 2011-2026, Robert Parker, May 2011
The 2008 La Reserve de Louis is far more attractive and open-knit than the 2010, with notes of mocha, caramel, licorice-infused black cherries and currants. Soft tannins, a sweet, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and a supple finish make for an attractive wine to drink now and over the next 15 years. For the statisticians, this has 13.5% natural alcohol and was cropped at 30 hectoliters per hectare. I have reviewed these wines together even though the Reserve de Louis comes from a separate, microscopic section of the Chateau Louis vineyards.
