The 2021 Fleur de Pédesclaux, representing 42% of the total volume, has a fragrant, limestone-tinged bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely proportioned with fine tannins, the new oak neatly embroidered toward the silky finish. A very commendable Deuxième Vin .
The 2021 Fleur de Pedésclaux is a supple, charming, medium-bodied Merlot-dominant blend evocative of berries, plums, spices and licorice. Clean and correct, it will drink well on release.
Attractive aromatics, this is higher Cabernet Sauvignon than usual, a reflection both of the vintage and plantings in the vineyard. A slight disconnect between the almost-exuberant florality on the nose, with raspberry leaf, peony and violet, and then the fairly austere and closed down tanninson the palate.Has Pauillac sigature for sure, with slate and mint leaf.A successful 2nd wine this year. 30% new oak. Harvest September 24 to October 5.
