Plenty of rich caramel character, but not fully developed. This only tastes slightly sweet because of the influence of the aging process. A bit short. Drink now.

The 2006 Bastor-Lamontagne has a fine marmalade and quince-scented bouquet. The palate is fully matured with dried orange peel and marmalade, quite smooth in texture, but perhaps lacking some precision on the finish. Not bad, but I would drink bottles up over the next 5-7 years. Tasted April 2016.
Cheesy nose – not direct and clean. Rather simple sweetness. Very dull and sugary. (JR)
Full and sugary. Loose. Burnt barley sugar. Quite acceptable but not great and slightly astringent. (JR)
About the producer
This Sauternes estate was acquired by the Cathiard family of Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte in 2014. Located not too far from Ch. Suduiraut, the property has 52 hectares of vines in a single block.
