More purple and less ruby compared to Beze. A greater depth of fruit, more layers to it. I loved the vigour of the Clos de Bèze but this has more of a natural majesty. Profound, with a silky texture on top of a hard rock Chambertin.

The 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru is a pretty big step up from the Bèze and also the most complete of the Grand Crus in the range. Rich and seamless in the glass, with striking depth, the Chambertin has so much to offer. Ripe, elegant tannins wrap around a core of dark red-toned fruit, cedar, spice, menthol and pipe tobacco. Sublime.
