The 2021 Fixin Clos de la Perrière 1er Cru, which I tasted last year in barrel, bottled in May, has a tightly wound bouquet of mainly red fruit mixed with sous-bois and light menthol scents. The palate is medium-bodied, the 20% new oak neatly integrated and nicely structured with blackberry, raspberry and a pinch of white pepper. There's a slight rusticity here, but it should cohere with 12 months in bottle.

From the 5-hectare monopole, the 2021 Fixin Clos de la Perrière 1er Cru is aged in around 25% new oak and with 66% whole bunches. It has a very attractive, perfumed bouquet with black plum and touches of cassis. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite succulent tannins, fine flesh here, blueberry and blackberry intermingled with a sweet and pleasurable finish. There is a sense of joy in this Fixin and it will be irresistible in its youth.
