Tasting notes
I love this cuvée from Montez, and the 2020 Côte Rôtie Fortis is another beauty. Coming mostly from the southern portions of the appellation and incorporating a good bit of Viognier, it has a pure, medium to full-bodied, floral style as well as lots of red and blue fruits, good mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and an iron/bloody character that comes out with time in the glass. It already offers pleasure yet will benefit from just 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for 15-20.

Dark purple. High-pitched blackberry, cherry-cola, potpourri and licorice aromas, along with smoky mineral and exotic spice nuances. Sappy and seamless in the mouth, offering bitter cherry and blue fruit flavors that expand and become sweeter with air. Shows excellent clarity and finishes impressively long and gently chewy, with mounting tannins and a lingering suggestion of blueberry preserves.
