While the 2015 vintage was generally very fine in this appellation, the 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Mousse from Bouchard Père & Fils isn't one of the highlights of the portfolio this year, offering up a rather blurred bouquet of plums and soil. On the palate, the wine is a bit diffuse and lacking in concentration. This is a far cry from Bouchard's excellent Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus this year.

Good bright, dark red a bit less saturated than the Beaune du Château. Aromas of raspberry coulis and clove convey a distinctly candied quality. Then dense, sweet and plush, offering aromatic if slightly warm flavors of jammy dark fruits and spices. Perhaps a bit more serious than the Beaune du Château and showing a touch more medicinal reserve but this is still uncommonly sweet and soft, albeit with plenty of ripe supporting tannins. A wine of pleasure.
(these vines sit on two meters of dense red clay and are never troubled by drought, according to Weber): Bright red-ruby. Sexy scents of red- and blackcurrant, iron and tobacco, plus a whiff of animal fur. At once sweet and salty, displaying a fine-grained texture to its black cherry fruit. I find this gentler and more velvety than the Beaune du Château, with sweeter tannins.
