Tasting notes
Picked 23 September. (In 2022 and 2018 they picked even earlier.) Transparent ruby-garnet with a pale rim. Sweet nose. Very pure and racy and fine. (JR)

The 2016 Spätburgunder Centgrafenberg GG has a ruby-purple red color and offers a beautifully pure, fresh and mineral bouquet of perfectly ripe red and dark fruits. Impressively pure and astringent on the palate, this is a full-bodied, straight and refreshing Pinot with great concentration and a firm, very persistent character. Tight and juicy, one of the finest Centgrafenbergs I can remember. Unfortunately, I had only one sip of it during the GG tastings in Wiesbaden in August 2018. This is a provisional score.
Pale cherry, ruby rim; fruit, minerality and barrique all have a bearing on the fragrance. On the palate the fruit of cherries and blackberries invites the taste buds to indulge in juicy delight, but notes of dusty graphite, smoky bacon and cedar spice demand concentration. (MS)
