Tasting notes
Medium ruby color. The nose is very floral, with notes of spices, minerals, cocoa, and anise. Relatively soft and generous with plenty of supple red fruit and crushed raspberry flavors with a long and delicate finish. A gorgeous combination of beautiful round fruit and structure.

The 1998 Barolo Riserva Vignolo is clearly superior to its siblings. A fuller garnet, its intriguing nose of roses, tar, balsamic notes, nutmeg, and cinnamon give way to a firm but plush palate. Focused and with good density of texture and elegance of tannins, its warm, ripe finish and aftertaste add to its allure. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2018. The deep ruby/purple-colored 1998 Barolo Vignolo exhibits a gorgeously sweet, textbook bouquet of rose petals, melted road tar, cherry liqueur, spice box, and minerals. Full-bodied, concentrated, seamless, and harmonious, it is reminiscent of a grand cru red Burgundy from Musigny or Flagey-Echezeaux. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2018.
