Tasting notes
The 2015 Beaune Les Grèves 1er Cru is showing some reduction on the nose, although this does seem to dissipate to some degree with aeration. The oak is quite conspicuous at the moment, although I feel it will be subsumed by the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with what feels like a little stem addition imparting freshness and sappiness on the entry. This is detailed, quite precise and focused, displaying impressive precision and energy on the finish. It has great potential, perhaps a little earlier-drinking than others and yet with a similar life span. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Mid crimson. Floral cast to the perfumed red fruit. Really inviting. Chewy, chalky texture but a lovely harmony of fruit and tannins, with freshness on the finish. (JH)
