Tasting notes
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru clearly has the most sensual bouquet among the sextet of Les Cazetiers in this flight, possessing copious red cherry, crushed strawberry, vanilla pod and light flinty scents, perhaps with a judicious amount of stem addition. The harmonious, exquisitely detailed palate is very well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, the red fruit merging with more black toward a sustained finish of palpable mineralité . This is a very sophisticated Les Cazetiers destined for long-term aging. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Medium red. Very ripe but reticent scents of roasted red fruits, plum and damp earth. Fresher in the mouth than on the nose, conveying more energy than the Clos du Fonteny, with its medicinal cherry, wild berry and spice flavors complemented by a chocolatey nuance. Nicely balanced and not at all lacking in spine. Here, too, there's a firming touch of minerality. This wine will need several years in the cellar to unwind.
This seems leaner than the Petite-Chapelle. Still fragrant and juicy but less fruit in the middle so it finishes rather dry. (JH)
