Tasting notes
A burnished copper colour, this is an impressive, powerful and muscular vintage of Laurent-Perrier’s rare Cuvée Alexandra. The wine is still a little closed, but with air reveals notes of bright redcurrant, an earthy tone and rose florals. It’s on the palate, however, that the wine reveals its quality, with a firm structure – the line of taut acidity and a slight phenolic grip alongside the fine mousse. There’s the trace outline of crunchy red fruit, but a mineral, saline power that dominates at this still youthful stage. A serious wine that deserves to be enjoyed alongside food. These magnums were disgorged in October 2022 (the team feels the wine needs additional time post-disgorgement to be ready for release).

The 2007 Rosé Cuvée Alexandra (from magnum) is a total turn-on. What a knockout. Cedar, pipe tobacco, dried herbs and coffee lend tons of aromatic presence. Silky and beautifully perfumed, the 2007 is so expressive. Hints of sweet red cherry fruit, blood orange and crushed flowers appear with air, adding layers of nuance. The 2007 is in a gorgeous spot where it is mature but still quite vibrant. Dosage is 6 grams per liter.
