Tasting notes
The 2016 Caillou Blanc from Château Talbot is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon matured in 50% new oak. It has a well defined bouquet with freshly squeezed lime, tangerine and orange cordial – simple but effective. The palate is well balanced with a smooth, quite creamy, quite leery entry (this is never racked) with a fresh, lightly spiced finish. Fine, although I would afford it another year in bottle to soak up the residual new oak. Tasted at the château.

The 2016 Caillou Blanc du Chateau Talbot is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next few years. Lemon confit, white flowers, chamomile and hints of tropical fruit intermingled with oak give the wine its exotic, racy personality.
About the producer

Quality has not necessarily always lived up to this property’s Fourth Growth status, however there have been significant improvements in recent years, with a sustainable focus in the vineyard, and new winery and cellar.
