The 2014 Trimoulet is a tasty, straightforward offering. Next to the other wines in Nicolas Thienpont's range, the Trimoulet comes across as a bit compact, even if there is good overall nuance. Herbs, smoke, tobacco, game and licorice inform the expressive, savory finish. The blend is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc.
The Château Trimoulet 2014 is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc picked October 2-10 and October 10-14, respectively. It has a ripe black cherry and blueberry nose, but it feels a little monotone compared to its peers, needs more energy. It has a very sweet core of spicy red fruit, full-bodied with a lot of extraction, but it feels a tad labored on the finish. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
