In the bottle with the dark brown label, the Parusso 2019 Barolo Bussia shows a slightly lighter garnet appearance compared to some of the other new releases from this producer. The Bussia (with 8,300 bottles released) reveals aromas of crushed rose, dried cherry skin, grape stems and tea leaf. Everything comes together with good intensity, and the wine delivers ample fruit concentration to the palate along with firm tannins. This wine will require patience and cellaring for sure.

Monforte d’Alba. Lustrous mid ruby. Quite a similar nose to their Mosconi due to the grape-drying, with raspberry and hints of cassis and passion fruit; but this is still bolder, while the oak is more integrated. A hugely perfumed, sweet fruit palate that is richly tannic. Has all the building blocks, as well as potential, to improve further. (WS)

Ruby red colour, a modern style Barolo that has impressive depth to the raspberry and red cherry fruits, with attractive tobacco, orange peel and bitter lemongrass on the finish that reflect high acidities. This is the most successful of the three Parusso wines in the vintage, with fine but firm tannins, oak a little evident. 2ha estate in Monforte d'Alba, 300m altitude, 20 year old vines. Made in small oak barrels, native yeasts as all the Parusso wines.

Parusso's 2019 Barolo Bussia is sensual, caressing and super-expressive. Silky tannins and lifted, precise aromatics give this mid-weight wine understatement and class. The Bussia is a sublime Barolo that needs time to fully express its considerable potential. There's a ton to look forward to. The Bussia has a lot of potential.
