Tasting notes
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (63% new, 37% second-use). Dark blackish ruby. Low-key tea-leaf mulch on the nose. Then rather sweet and boisterous on the palate. Just a little brutal. Definitely tastes of tea! Maybe with a hint of bergamot (Earl Grey). Slightly dry and dusty finish. A bit of an awkward rugby player. (JR)

The dark ruby-colored 1994 exhibits blackberry, cassis, pit fruits, and spices in its aromatics. This extremely youthful wine has outstanding depth to its dark, fruit-laden character. It is medium to full-bodied and concentrated, revealing copious quantities of tannin (yet they are ripe) in its firm finish. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2013. Congratulations to Concha y Toro and winemaker Enrique Tirado for this fascinating and enlightening lineup of delicious wines. Importer: Banfi Vintners, Old Brookville, NY; tel. 516-626-9200
