From Jadot’s own vineyards, their Narvaux has part of the malolactic blocked to retain freshness. Barrel-aged on fine lees for 18 months, allowing two winters in the cellar. A very good Meursault, as you would expect from a major force such as Jadot. Shows the ripeness of the 2018 vintage but manages to balance this with a surprising amount of freshness and vitality. Has the expected buttery, orange-zest notes but with bright acidity underneath. Certainly not blowsy. (AWH)

The 2018 Meursault Narvaux comes from a single hectare of vines. It has a classy, well-defined bouquet of yellow flowers, Japanese yuzu and lemon thyme aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is balanced but perhaps does not quite follow through in terms of quality vis-à-vis the aromatics, delivering honeyed fruit laced with orange peel and pineapple chunks but missing some tension and acidity on the finish. Not bad, but I prefer the Meursault Forges.
The 2018 Meursault Narvaux (Domaine Louis Jadot) is a fine cuvée this year, unwinding in the glass with aromas of fresh peach, citrus oil, white flowers and toasted nuts. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly textural, with racy acids and a precise finish. This derives mainly from the upper part of this large climat.

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
