The 2014 Sanctus comes across as sweet and almost-candied, with tons of inky, jammy fruit, chocolate, mocha and new oak. There is plenty of super-ripe fruit, but at the same time, the impression is of a wine that could have been made practically anywhere.

The Château Sanctus 2014 delivers plenty of luscious fruit on the nose, but there seems to be a touch of sur-maturité here with dried prune elements infusing the aromatics. The palate is full-bodied and rich with a lot of extraction, a “big” Saint Emilion that lacks weight toward the slightly bitter finish. I have tasted better wines of its type.
