An under the radar estate on clay-limestone soils of Canon-Fronsac that often quietly delivers excellence, and it has done so again in 2018. Black cherry, raspberry, smoked earth, tons of chocolate shavings and black truffles, signing off with flint and a saline lick. 50% new oak. Make the most of it now, by the way, as in 2021 this estate was bought by Château La Dauphine and is likely to be included in the wine as of the 2022 vintage.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Vrai Canon Bouché gives up notes of prunes, fruitcake and hoisin with hints of tapenade and balsamic. The medium to full-bodied palate offers uncomplicated dried berry flavors with a chewy texture and soft acidity, finishing a little rustic.
Another impressive wine from the Canon Fronsac region, the 2018 Château Vrai Canon Bouche is 55% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Malbec, brought up in 40% new French oak. Rocking levels of blackcurrants, cherries, mulberries, chocolate, and leafy herbs emerge from the glass, and it's rich and medium to full-bodied, with a layered, opulent texture and a great finish. A total sleeper in the vintage, it's ideal for enjoying over the coming decade.
