Tasting notes
Ruby-red. High-pitched cherry, raspberry and candied rose scents pick up spice and mineral qualities with air. Supple, densely packed red fruit preserve and floral pastille flavors stain the palate, with juicy acidity and an exotic star anise nuance providing energy and lift. Sneaky, fine-grained tannins come in late and lend shape to an extremely long, focused, floral finish.

Pale to medium garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Grenache Aerope offers an array of earth and berry preserves notes – tree bark, black soil, mulberries, dried plums and kirsch – with nuances of forest floor and cracked black pepper. Confirming this is a serious Grenache in the mouth, it gives all the silkiness and voluptuousness to be expected with complex earth, spice box and red fruit preserves layers before finishing with excellent persistence.
