Tasting notes
Dark ruby plum, impressive quality, this is fresh and juicy, dark fruits, fine tannins with a slate and mandarin peel uplift on the finish, plenty of signature appellation and vintage character, good length and mouthwatering. A great value wine located in the commune of Soussans, one to look out for. 4th generation of the Portet family, 37ha of vines, Nicolas Portet winemaker, 35% new oak for ageing.

An outstanding Margaux, the dense purple-hued 2020 Château Tayac offers a smoky, meaty nose of ripe red and black fruits, graphite, and spicy wood. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, round, nicely textured 2020 with notable purity of fruit, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This workhorse style, impeccably balanced, impressive 2020 will drink well for 15 years or more.
The 2020 Tayac has a pleasant bouquet even if there is some new oak to be subsumed. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine definition, quite fresh with a slightly chewy finish that just needs to develop more persistency. Not bad, but it could have been better.
