Fragrant and complex nose of blackberries, cloves, pine cones and walnuts. It’s medium-bodied, elegant and refined, with firm, silky tannins. Beautifully integrated and balanced. Lengthy, too. Drink after 2024.

Cask sample. Beautifully vibrant cassis, ripe berry-fruit on the nose with an underlying suggestion of leafy green notes. Ripe fruits on the palate with juicy cassis, firm and rounded tannins with an oaky char (nicely judged). Chewy and opulent but still shows good sense of place. Shows good potential. (AC)
The 2020 Bellegrave has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, wild hedgerow and light iris petal scents, mint and cedar gently unfurling with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, a fine bead of acidity, cedar and graphite pinning it down as Pauillac and nowhere else on the finish. Good show!
The 2020 Bellegrave (Pauillac) displays a deep purple-black color and pronounced notes of warm cassis, stewed black plums and redcurrant jelly, plus hints of cedar chest, bouquet garni and unsmoked cigars. Medium-bodied, the palate is chewy and refreshing, delivering a modest fruit offering and a stewed tea finish.
