Tasting notes
The 2018 Frank Phélan has a tight, slightly herbaceous nose, although there is decent freshness here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy and quite firm tannins, and slightly bitter, with a short finish. Early drinking.

The second wine of Phélan Ségur in Saint-Estèphe, the 2018 Frank Phélan has a terrific nose of ripe dark currants, black cherries, leafy herbs, and spring flowers. This plump, medium-bodied, fruit-forward and undeniably delicious 2018 is already hard to resist yet is going to easily keep for a good decade. It's a hidden gem of a Saint-Estèphe.
About the producer

With 70 hectares under vine, Ch. Phélan Ségur sits on the eastern side of Saint-Estèphe – neighbouring Montrose and Calon Ségur. Owned by Philippe van de Vyvere since 2017, its gravel soils produce typically firm wines.
