Notes of dark berries, flowers and spices mingled with delicate notes of licorice introduce the 2022 La Bridane, a moderately weighted, supple and round wine with a juicy core of fruit and powdery tannins. It is a bit light and taut for a Saint-Julien but remains well-crafted.

The 2022 Les Trois Canons de la Bridane has an intense bouquet with violet-tinged black fruit, blueberry and pencil lead aromas emerging over time. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and fresh touches of graphite infusing the black fruit. It's a little short on the finish, but otherwise, it's a very decent Saint-Julien.
Bright and deep plum in colour, clear phenolic extraction. Love how silky the tannins are, and also how some earthy notes stop things getting overly sweet despite the ripeness of the blackberry and cassis puree fruit notes. A lovely slice of St Juien that manages to retain appellation character even in the extreme conditions of the vintage. Fresh of heat but it hides it well, and this has balance. Value in this starry part of the Médoc peninsula. Harvest from September 15 to October 4. Antoine Medeville consultant, Noëlie and Pierre Saintout now joined their father Bruno in running the estate.
