Score 94/100 · Drink 2014-2021, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Aug 2014

Leading off the reds, the 2012 Harmonie (60% Grenache, 32% Syrah and 8% Mourvedre aged in 30% new French oak) is an elegant, yet full-bodied and rich 2012 that gives up loads of ripe berry fruits, crushed flowers, licorice, sugared spice and salty minerality. Perfectly balanced, layered and fresh, drink it over the coming 5-7 years. Winemaker Guillaume Favre made the most of the 2012 vintage, and these new releases show the supple, pure quality of the vintage, yet have superb mid-palate depth and richness. In addition, Guillaume has now left l’Aventure to focus exclusively on his Clos Solene label. Tel. (805) 296-0478; www.clossolene.com

The 2012 Harmonie, a Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre blend, jumps from the glass with pure exuberance. Dark red cherries, flowers, sweet spices and orange peel flesh out in a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next few years. As always, Clos Solene excels with wines built on texture. The blend is 41% Grenache, 37% Syrah and 22% Mourvèdre.
