2017 Houyi Vineyard Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Houyi Vineyard is very young and primary. Today, it is the wine's primary fruit that is front and center. Black cherry, plum, grilled herbs, chocolate, leather, licorice and lavender lend brooding intensity throughout. Like all the 2017s at Realm, the Houyi shows the mid-weight structure of the year to great effect. It's another impressive wine in this very challenging year. (AG)

One-hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon from the Nine Suns property, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Houyi Vineyard Pritchard Hill has a deep purple-black color, revealing quite a lifted nose of Morello cherries, black raspberries and warm cassis with hints of roses, clove oil and balsamic. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of ripe, juicy fruit, supported by firm, grainy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and compellingly fruity. (LPB)
Blueberry and blackberry aromas with mineral and floral undertones. Inky. Medium to full body. Firm, silky tannins. Very integrated and fine. Mineral and stone. Persistent and fresh.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Houyi Vineyard comes from Pritchard Hill (from the Nine Suns property) and is all Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in roughly 85% new French oak. It has a rocking blue fruit character as well as full-bodied richness, notes of liquid violets, liquid rock, graphite, and spice, medium to full body, beautiful purity, and outstanding length.
