Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La BAM isn't going to make you forget the 2016, but it's a beautiful wine in this challenging vintage. Cassis, blueberries, black raspberries, flowers, and spice all flow to a medium to full-bodied, silky, elegant Cabernet that shows more and more floral nuances with time in the glass. I love its tannins (which can be problematic in the vintage), and it has plenty of mid-palate depth and a great finish. If you have these in the cellar, you won't be disappointed.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Bam is floral, spiced and lifted, especially for a wine from this site, where the wines tend to be much more potent. Rose petal, lavender, savory herb, mint and red plum all grace this mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon from Mark Carter.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Bam takes a little coaxing to shake loose notes of fresh blackcurrants, blueberry compote and chocolate-covered cherries with touches of camphor, dried herbs and tilled soil plus a waft of cast-iron pan. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has compelling energy with bags of bright black and red fruit, supported by chewy tannins, finishing savory.
