The 2016 Plince has an opulent bouquet of showy blueberry and blackberry fruit; traces of melted tar and tobacco loiter in the background. The palate is soft on the entry, with rounded tannins that impart a velvety mouthfeel. There is plenty of rondeur in this Plince, which is slightly lower in acidity than expected but delivers just enough grip on the finish. While not the most complex Pomerol, it is, as I remarked when tasting it from barrel, a commercially savvy one.
Very ripe blueberries here, married to delicate, smoky-oak and baking-spice character. Concentrated and succulent with a wonderful, mineral freshness at the long, energetic finish. A very flexible food-wine. Drink or hold.
The 2016 Plince is a soft, fruity wine. Plump, juicy and inviting, the 2016 offers plenty of immediacy. The 2016 is not especially complex, but it is quite delicious. Some of the slightly awkward notes I saw en primeur have resolved themselves during élevage. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.
