Tasting notes
We are on a roll. With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, the organic Ceretto 2020 Barolo Prapò is extremely tight and linear with an almost crunchy quality. I love the wine's aromas of orange peel, graphite and pencil shaving. It's got it all. The Prapò remains finely textured and finessed. This particular site is distinguished by a long harvest that can exceed 10 days in certain vintages. This makes for very slow-ripening fruit, and timing the harvest correctly is a challenge.

Serralunga d’Alba. Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Complex, perfumed cherry and raspberry fruit with a hint of oak on the nose. Polished red fruit on the palate with fine, gravelly tannins leaving their imprint on the finish but without overpowering the elegant, concentrated fruit. Refined and ready now. (WS)

This agile, finely chiselled wine shows brilliant balance, an almost electric texture of acid and tannin, and wonderfully intricate layers of fruits and spices. Raspberries, cranberries, orange zest and balsam build on the palate and linger on the finish. Best from 2027.

The 2020 Barolo Prapò is a potent, muscular wine. Dark fruit, grilled herbs, earthiness, leather, tobacco and menthol add to an impression of somber intensity. Dense and compact, with the energy that runs through all these wines, the Prapò surely needs time to be at its best.
