Tasting notes
The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Belle Croix has a very perfumed, animated bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberry and mandarin scents, displaying good mineralité and more cohesion than the La Charmotte. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp acidity, good grip and an expressive, savory finish. Very fine.

The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Belle Croix is the first vintage from 0.70 hectares of vines planted in 1954, matured in 50% whole cluster. It has a concentrated and opulent bouquet, perhaps not displaying the same delineation as some of its rivals. The palate is packed with sucrosity, quite lavish and sumptuous, although this moves it away from Burgundy in terms of style and precision. It will make enjoyable drinking over the next decade, but I am less convinced by its long-term prospects.
