A Merlot-heavy blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc aged 18 months in a mix of barrels and 400-liter oak (30% new), the 2023 Château Teyssier (Famille Durand-Teyssier) offers up bright cherries, candied red plum, and violets. It's juicy, medium-bodied, and charming on the palate, with soft tannins and no hard edges. Drink this solid effort over the coming 5-7 years. Drink 2026-2032.

The 2023 Teyssier (Saint-Émilion) is a very beautiful wine, just as it was en primeur . Aromatic and nuanced, the 2023 is a total delight. Crushed flowers, mint, orange peel, cinnamon and vibrant red-toned fruit all grace this supple, silky Saint-Émilion. All the elements are so well balanced.

The 2023 Teyssier has quite a tightly packed bouquet with black fruit, raisin and brown spices. The first bottle tasted at the estate needed more cohesion, but the second tasted in January shows more nuance and harmony. The palate is medium-bodied with black fruit on the entry, graphite and tobacco. Much better on the finish than the first sample, with a touch of cracked black pepper, this represents a no-nonsense yet delicious Teyssier to drink over the next six to eight years.

The second wine of Château Laforge (for all practical purposes), the 2023 Château Teyssier is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that hit 14.1% alcohol with a pH of 3.68. Its deep purple hue is followed by rock-solid aromatics of ripe red and black fruits, violets, and spicy, subtle herbal, chocolaty notes. Offering beautiful Merlot character, the fresher, vibrant, juicy style of the vintage, and a great finish, it has outstanding potential.
