Based on 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc and aged in a mix of new, one-wine, and two-wine barrels, the 2023 Château Tessendey offers savory red and black fruits, dried herbs, tobacco, and graphite on the nose. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a nicely balanced, enjoyable mouthfeel, ripe yet present tannins, and a good finish. Drink this solid Fronsac over the coming 7-8 years. Drink 2026-2033.

The 2023 Tessendey is a potent, brooding wine. A blast of dark fruit, leather, cloves and mocha opens before swaths of incisive tannin hit the mid-palate and finish. There's a bit of edginess here, but also the depth to support at least several years of very fine drinking.
The 2023 Tessendey has quite a perfumed bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and black tea scents, nicely focused with well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins. More simple than the nose, perhaps drier than I would have liked on the finish, it suggests this will be best drunk early.
Structured and polished with lively dark fruit and medium body. Just a little hollow in the middle. Polished finish.
