Score 89/100 · Drink 2026-2038, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

A charmer, the 2023 Château Picque Caillou offers a more forward style in its mulled red and black fruits, earthy herbs, and leather aromatics. Based on 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot and aged in 40% new French oak, it's medium-bodied, round, and supple, with soft tannins and good overall balance. This ready-to-go Pessac-Léognan will drink nicely for 10-12 years. Drink 2026-2038.

The 2023 Château Picque Caillou is deep ruby/purple-hued and delivers a classic 2023 perfume of ripe red and darker berry fruits interwoven with spicy, floral nuances. It's medium-bodied and has a ripe, balanced, elegant mouthfeel, solid tannins, and outstanding length.

The 2023 Picque Caillou has a deep garnet-purple color. It pops from the glass with bright notes of redcurrants, fresh blackberries, and raspberries, plus touches of dried Provence herbs, pencil lead, and lavender. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers a good amount of juicy black fruits, with lightly chewy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing on a savory note.

A bright and succulent red with good concentration of fruit in the center-palate, medium body and a velvety texture.
