Really open on the nose, this instantly offers delicious blackberry and blackcurrant notes. The 3% Cabernet Sauvignon (included in the blend for the first time this year) shines through in a pleasing way, supporting the palate with a crunchy tannic finish. The quality here, with a dedicated team, is on the rise, and it’s a wine to keep an eye on. Aged in 40% new oak. Blend: 67% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon

A gorgeous example of this château in Pomerol, the 2023 Château Nénin is a blend of 67% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon that was aged 16 months in 40% new French oak. Ripe red and black fruits, chocolaty herbs, graphite, and damp earth all shine on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a rich, layered, textured mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. I wouldn't be surprised to see this turn out to be the greatest Nénin ever produced. Drink 2028-2053.
The 2023 Nénin is pliant and super expressive right out of the gate. Blackberry, incense, licorice, grilled herbs and tobacco build nicely in the glass. This is the first vintage that includes a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Brisk acids and beams of tannin shape this classy, structured Pomerol. Nicely done.
The 2023 Nénin, which for the first time includes 3% Cabernet Sauvignon planted at the end of 2000, is superior on the nose compared to the Fugue, quite a sizeable gap to be frank, with bright and quite seductive red berry fruit, black plum and light dark chocolate scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, svelte and poised, a fine cohesive, quite sensual finish with impressive mineralité. This is a delightful Nénin that will give many years' drinking pleasure.
