Tasting notes
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Mont-Perat Rouge needs a little swirling to get beyond the tar and rubber notes to a core of stewed plums and strawberries with a waft of wet slate. The medium-bodied palate delivers good balance, with a lightly chewy texture and lively lift on the finish. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.

The 2023 Mont-Pérat has a tightly knit bouquet with graphite-tinged black fruit, quite earthy in style with a touch of dried blood. The palate is medium-bodied with brittle tannins and fine acidity, though the finish feels a bit dry and needs more flesh.
Bright and vibrant, subtle grilled oak, the tannins exert an extremely light hand over the plum raspberry fruits, this is good easy drinking, and good value also. Thibault Despagne, 3.7ph, 40ha.
The 2023 Mont-Perat is loaded with dark red cherry/plum fruit, spice, licorice, pomegranate and blood orange. A juicy, bold Bordeaux, Mont-Perat is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
